Green Tea for Weight Loss

Which is the best weight loss pill in the USA.

Green tea has been shown to boost your weight loss.Green tea has been the subject of substantial research in relation to it’s weight loss benefits.

Each of the numerous studies that have been performed recorded that green tea is a valuable aid to weight loss and may assist in keeping you in shape.

There are also many additional health benefits attached to drinking a few cups of tea a day and as such green tea forms an important function in any health boosting program.

However Green tea is an aid to weight loss and when used solely for the purpose of weight loss it should always be a part of a program that includes a calorie restrictive diet and increased exercise.

A study published in the December 1999 American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that :-

“Green tea has thermogenic properties and promotes fat oxidation beyond that explained by its caffeine content per se. The green tea extract may play a role in the control of body composition via sympathetic activation of thermogenesis, fat oxidation, or both.”

Published in the American journal of Clinical Nutrition in the November 1999 edition was the results of a study conducted at the University of Geneva. A group of men were given a combination of Caffeine and green tea while another group was given caffeine and a placebo. The group given caffeine and tea were found to burn more calories than those given the placebo.

How green tea promotes weight loss

Apart from containing caffeine green tea is also rich in a compounds known as catechin polyphenols. These compounds increase body thermogenesis and aid in fat burning.

One such catechin polyphenol known as EGCG (epigallocatchin gallate) works synergistically with caffeine to increase metabolism and 24 hour energy expenditure.

Green tea catechins inhibit the movement of glucose in fat cells resulting in a reduction in the excess sugars and and being stored in your body as fat cells.

Safe for diabetes type 2

Green tea helps to improve insulin action and block glucose absorption. Thus it is an important aid to regulating blood sugar levels in those who suffer from Diabetes Type 2.

Many Diabetes type 2 sufferers do experience weight problems and are unable to use most of the weight loss products commercially available. Green tea is an ideal aid as it not only promotes weight loss but also assists in controlling the problem.

Which green tea is best for weight loss

With so many varieties of green tea available it is no wonder that most Westerners are confused as to which tea would be best for weight loss.

It is fairly informative to know that all green tea is derived from the Camellia Sinensis plant and the differences in quality, flavor and health benefits are due to the curing process and the area in which it is grown. Basic green tea usually contains the most catechins as it is subjected to minimal processing in order to preserve the catechins as much as possible.

When asking a Chinese person which tea is best for weight loss you will almost certainly be told that Oolong is most appropriate. Oolong is a medium oxidized tea that promotes detoxing amongst other benefits. I am also of a firm belief that Oolong is a powerful diuretic that aids in reducing water retention.

Scientific research has indicated that the higher levels of EGCG found in plain green tea would be most beneficial to your weight loss program.

I personally use Kou Tea which is a blend of some of the best tea’s that produce excellent results :-

  • Oolong – a slightly fermented green tea that is reputed to be best for weight loss results.
  • White Tea – the tender tips and buds of the plant. Very high in anti oxidants.
  • Pu-Erh tea – The well fermented green tea type that has numerous health benefits including cholesterol lowering.
  • Organic Green tea – Slightly steamed and preserved for maximum health benefit.

How to boost Testosterone

Boost testosterone for improved masculinity

Testosterone is an anabolic steroid found mostly in men. It’s main purpose is to – well – make you a man. Testosterone is responsible for majority of male development which includes penile and sexual development, body and facial hair and of course muscle buildup. It is for this reason that many body builders use bodybuilding supplements to help boost Testosterone.

Natural testosterone levels in men naturally decrease with age. This leads to a whole host of undesirable effects  which can result in low self esteem due to the “unmanly” effects of low testosterone.

Graphical representation of the loss of the main male hormone Testosterone due to aging.

Symptoms of Low Testosterone in Men

  • Low sex drive
  • Weight Gain – increased body fat levels
  • Difficulty in achieving or maintaining erections
  • Low semen volume
  • Mood changes – irritable, depressed, lack of focus
  • Fatigue – lack of energy
  • Loss of muscle mass
  • Decreased bone mass

Experiencing one or more of the above symptoms could indicate a lowered testosterone level. If you suspect that your Testosterone is low you can have your medical practitioner run some tests to determine your testosterone levels.

The ability to boost your testosterone levels naturally is probably the reason why some men seem to maintain their youthful vigor a lot longer than others.

Increase masculinity when you boost testosterone levels

11 Steps to Naturally Increase your Testosterone.

  • Zinc – This mineral is important for the production of testosterone in your body. Consume more dairy products and protein rich foods such as meat and fish.
  • Reduce sugar intake – sugar directly affects your testosterone levels so by lowering or eliminating your sugar intake you boost your testosterone levels.
  • Healthy fats – Coconut oil, palm oil, olive oil, avocados, nuts, butter etc all constitute healthy fats. By boosting these in your diet you will naturally boost your testosterone levels.
  • Lose Weight – While tests have revealed that weight loss will boost testosterone levels it is also in your own best interest health wise to keep your body in shape in order to look and feel good.
  • High Intensity training – Short bursts of extreme exercise will boost your testosterone levels. This is in contrast to long exercise routines such as aerobics which tend to reduce testosterone.
  • Strength training – Weights, squats, dead lifts etc. Increase your weights and slow down the routine to use as many muscles as possible.
  • Excess drinking – Reduce alcohol intake to boost your testosterone levels. We have all heard the stories about being too drunk to get it up – now you know why.
  • Reduce stress – Stress is a major factor that helps to reduce your testosterone.  Stress produces cortisol which prevents testosterone production and also boosts belly fat. Take some “me” time every now and then to reduce your stress levels and positively improve your health.
  • Sleep – Sleep dramatically affects your morning testosterone levels. At least 7 to 9 hours sleep will help your testosterone to recover as well as assist in reducing stress in your lie.
  • Vitamin D – optimize Vitamin D levels through exposing your body to more natural light and sunlight. Vitamin D  is essential in the production of sperm and in boosting your testosterone levels.
  • Eat more vegetables – Certain vegetables such as Broccoli and cauliflower contain Phytonutrients which can help boost testosterone production.

Supplementing with a high quality testosterone booster such as Testogen could supply your body with the needed minerals to naturally boost your testosterone levels.

Testogen helps to boost your testosterone levels in order to build muscle.

Avoid Green tea – it is not for men

I know that this may sound crazy as green tea has been touted as one of the ultimate health drinks. However studies have shown that green tea can reduce your testosterone levels. I know as I have experienced this personally.

One of the more unpleasant side effects of higher testosterone levels is a sharp smell from your armpits or smelly armpits. Believe it or not this smell attracts women who sense the increase in testosterone in you.

My Green Tea Story

Business relations had me travelling to China on a regular basis with some trips being well over a month at a time. I tried as much as possible to live and eat as a local during these trips. I also used to stay at one of their apartments and not at the hotels.

After a particularly long trip and stay in China I began to notice a change in my body odor or lack thereof.  I was not really worried about this as I knew from experience that the Chinese have very little body odor due to their diets. I naturally assumed that the lack of odor was due to my changed diet.

Back home I was heavily involved with the local Chinese community and so I continued largely on my Chinese style diet and continued to enjoy a lack of body odor especially under the armpits. I even stopped using any sort of underarm deodorant as I found that I simply did not need it any more.

Only when looking back did I realize that I had also experienced another change that I did not associate with the China trips. I had a distinct drop in my libido! At the time I naturally thought that this was just a temporary natural decline in libido due to excess stress and the normal married life getting older typical causes. Boy was I wrong.

Years later, as I started to develop a taste for fitness and bodybuilding, I found some interesting research which has proven that drinking green tea reduces testosterone levels in men. Testosterone is also responsible for that sharp underarm smell.

Bingo. I put 2 and 2 together and came up with 4. The long trips to China combined with ample amounts of green tea had dropped my testosterone levels resulting in a drop in libido and body smell.

Using Supplements to boost testosterone

It is often far easier to boost your testosterone with a supplement than trying to correct the wrongs of your past diet and bad habits.  The boost in testosterone that you receive when using a supplement such as testogen is just way superior to any change of diet or healthy living changes.

I highly recommend that you get that sharp underarm smell back into your life and boost your libido and bodybuilding results with a great testosterone booster such as Testogen.

Health benefits of Green Tea

Drinking 3 to 5 cups of green tea a day will improve your health.

Just 3 cups of green tea a day can make a huge change in your health.Green Tea originates from China but is now grown in many parts of the world. It is produced from the leaf of the Camellia Sinensis plant which is then processed with the minimal amount of oxidation taking place in order to preserve it’s health giving benefits.

“It is better to be deprived of food for 3 days than to go without green tea for just 1 day” – Ancient Chinese Proverb

Green tea has many alleged and proven health benefits which include :-

  • Treats Acne
  • Improves memory
  • Combats Arthritis
  • Cancer Prevention
  • Weight Loss
  • Reduces Cholesterol
  • Lowers Blood Pressure
  • Anti Aging

There are literally hundreds of different types of green and black tea but all the varieties originate from the same Camellia Sinensis plant and are then processed in different ways in order to produce tea with differing flavors and health qualities. These processes produce varying tea’s which range from aromatic tea to some that are almost black in color and which produces a reddish color beverage.

White Tea, for instance, is produced only from the buds and very young leaves. The name white tea comes from the little white hairs found on these buds and leaves. It undergoes a very quick steaming process and is dried and packed. It is considered to be the most powerful of all the green tea’s and contains the highest percentage of beneficial Polyphenols and catechins such as EGCG.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Pu-Erh undergoes a very lengthy oxidation process and is often processed into discs or bricks of tea. In the ancient times Pu-Erh went through a curing process lasting over a month and then was packed and stored to mature for years. The longer the tea aged the better tasting it became and the more valuable it was.

Green Tea as an aid to Weight Loss

A study published in the December 1999 American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that :-

“Green tea has thermogenic properties and promotes fat oxidation beyond that explained by its caffeine content per se. The green tea extract may play a role in the control of body composition via sympathetic activation of thermogenesis, fat oxidation, or both.”

Green tea leaves to boost healthGreen tea extracts have recently become a very popular ingredient in many weight loss supplements due to it’s alleged weight loss benefits.

Numerous studies have indicated that green tea is highly beneficial to weight loss with some reports showing that it may boost your metabolic rate by as much as 4%.

One of the important principles of using tea for slimming is to ensure that you drink a cup of warm to hot tea after a meal. This will help to break down fat content in the meal that you have eaten.

Kou Tea contains a combination of the highest quality green tea’s which are alleged to be most beneficial for weight loss.

Green Tea a great option for diabetics

Apart from it’s hundreds of other health benefits, green tea is also beneficial to diabetics as well. Various researches have shown that green tea regulates blood sugar levels in people with Diabetes Type 2. It aids through :-

  • Blocking Glucose absorption
  • Improving Insulin actions
  • Regulating blood sugar levels

By drinking 3 to 5 cups of green tea a day you will not only improve your diabetic condition but may also benefit from the weight loss provided through green tea.

Anti Aging Properties of Green Tea

Use Green tea to slow your aging process and make you look younger. One of the factors that never failed to amaze me on my frequent trips to China was just how young the Chinese people appeared. On average they looked 10 to 15 years younger than their western counterparts and were also characterized by their clear complexions.

One of the big anti aging secrets of the Chinese is green tea combined with a healthy diet rich in vegetables. They love their vegies.

Green tea is contains an abundance of anti oxidants which explains part of the reason as to why it is effective in anti aging.

It is also a powerful anti inflammatory agent which helps reduce any inflammations in your skin thereby increasing radiance and overall skin condition.

It also has an inhibitory action on collagenase which is a process that breaks down collagen thereby improving skin elasticity and reducing wrinkles.

Cholesterol – the Silent Killer

High cholesterol levels is a problem that affects millions in the Western world. Many people fail to keep a check on their cholesterol levels as it is a condition that is neither seen nor noticed until it strikes – and then it can kill through heart attacks or cause strokes which affect the rest of your life.

One of the great benefits of green tea is that it lowers bad cholesterol and increases good cholesterol. This helps to protect you from the risk of heart disease and strokes.

NB : People using Coumadin (Warfarin) should not drink green tea due to it’s high vitamin K content.

Loose tea compared to tea bags

The Western world has a preference for the convenience supplied by tea bags. As a result a number of green tea products are now available in tea bags in order to cater for the preference of the market.

The tea packed in tea bags is often of a lower quality and the tea bag also tends to restrict the steeping of the tea resulting in reduced flavor and reduced health benefits.

Green tea normally consists of whole leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant which are rolled and dried.

When loose leaf tea is steeped in water these dried leaves unfold into full leaves allowing maximum release of flavor and all the health benefiting nutrients found in the tea.

In the Far East tea bags are not used. The Chinese only drink top quality whole leaf tea due to the superior flavor and benefits supplied. However tea bags are far more convenient to the average westerner.

Kou Tea has combined the convenience of a tea bag with 2 grams of high quality green tea blend in each tea bag.
