We all know that sugar is high in calories and when we are dieting it is essential to reduce calorie intake as much as possible. However on the other hand our body also needs calories to function so why is sugar so bad then?
Sugary and sweet foods items containing either refined or natural sugars are great for a quick energy boost and to energize you a little but that is exactly where the problem lies.
Sugar leads to cravings
Sugar is a source of calories that is easily converted by your body into available energy. With this rush of fresh energy also comes an insulin spike.
This spike in insulin and energy is quickly used up and all of a sudden your body wants more!! It begins to crave that sweet and you will start to experience cravings for sugary treats and sweets etc.
Popular fat burner diet pills such as PhenQ often cause people to lose their sweet cravings. The reason for this is that fat burners cause a sustained release of energy and improved fat to energy conversion and as a result, your body no longer needs the “rush” caused by eating sweetened foods.
How to overcome sweet cravings
Overcoming sweet cravings may be a lot easier than you think. All it requires is just a small bit of determination and then substitution. Substitute the sweets with something a little healthier without too much sugar and soon the cravings will start to go away.
I personally love sweet coffee and can drink cup after cup without a problem. When I am on a coffee drinking binge it is no problem to drink 1 to 2 cups an hour right throughout the day. If I don’t have my coffee with 3 teaspoons of sugar I start to get thirsty and agitated. My body is craving the sugar.
Occasionally I would drink a cup of Rooibos tea without sugar. I soon discovered that after drinking Rooibos tea without sugar it would take a long time for me to get thirsty again. In fact, I more than halved my normal consumption of fluids by drinking unsweetened beverages!
By substituting a craving with a healthy alternative your cravings are quickly brought under control and soon disappear altogether.
When eating natural sugars such as fruit by adding a little natural fat, like nuts, the sugar spike will be controlled and you are less likely to experience sugar spikes and cravings.
